Heeeeeeres Jonny!!!

ExorcistWith Halloween fast approaching, I've been getting in the spirit and watching lots of horror films. I'm not sure why i like horror as a genre so much, but there's something deeply satisfying about a really good chiller that excites me. Many people cite The Exorcist as the best horror movie of all time, and i have to agree it's near perfect and manages to creep me out with each viewing. The Shining too has always been not just a favourite horror film of mine, but a favourite film full stop. I used to think it was all in Jack Nicholson's performance, but both the music and atmosphere of the film are equally nightmarish. I also really like the original Halloween as well. Something about the faceless killer, the brilliant main theme tune and the fact that it spawned so many similar (but generally far inferior) slasher franchises makes it a classic in my book.

Saw, which was on TV this weekend, is another fine horror movie. I'd never seen it before this weekend, so it's still keeping me awake at night at the moment. I'd go as far as calling it a horrible film, like Hostel, for it's more gory scenes, and it made me want to watch the Care Bears Movie or something afterwards, just to wash the horrible away.

I'm going to be getting even  more in the spirit on Friday when i'll be attending a special Halloween themed concert called Release the Bats, with some really great bands playing (Shellac, Wooden Shjips, Lightning Bolt, Pissed Jeans, Om and Les Savy Fav).

Anyway, enough about me - the point of this post is to give you a chance to comment and tell us which film scares you the most and why....

I love horror films aswel. My favourites are the Nightmare on Elm Street series. I enjoyed the Scream series aswel and see Wes Craven as a horror maestro.

I am really looking forwards to watching the latest ones, such as One Missed Call, The Strangers, Shrooms and The Happening.
